Welcome to the Backcountry Basecamp located in beautiful Lake City, Colorado!

 

Backcountry Basecamp welcomes you to Lake City, Colorado and invites you to spend a relaxing stay in a comfortable little lodge style home located in the National Historic District and within walking distance to the downtown restaurants and shops. We are located directly across the street from the Visitor's Center, Post Office, and movie theater. The property offers four bedrooms and 4 baths and is open year round. The lodge will sleep 15 in beds if everyone shares beds. There are 9 total beds if you choose not to be that close. Room 1 is on the first floor and sleeps 2. It has a private bath, a queen size bed, a mini kitchen with full size refrigerator, and an exterior entrance to the backyard.  Room 2 is also on the first floor and sleeps 2. It has a queen bed with a private bathroom. Room 3 is on the second floor and sleeps 4. It has queen bed and also a trundle bed. It also has a private bathroom. Room 4 is also on the second floor and sleeps up to 7 people. It has two queens, one twin and a double size futon. It also has a private bath. Lastly, Room 5, which is only available during the summer months has the ability to sleep one additional person in a twin bed. Rentals are available either nightly by the room, or by the day or the week depending on the time of the year. Backcountry Basecamp is the place for you and your family if you are looking for the least expensive and highest value in lodging. It is a beautiful property with fenced yards and two fire pits. There is plenty of room for the kids. 

 

We welcome vacationers, hunters, ice climbers, fishermen, trail users, contractors, etc. If you are looking for adventure in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado there are five 14ers just outside of town. If you are in the mood for hiking there are also many other trails for day hiking or overnight excursions. There are miles and miles of trout streams on public lands throughout the Lake Fork Valley. You can take a 4wd tour on the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway, visit a few ghost towns such as Henson, Capitol City, Animas Forks, and Carson, and be back in time for dinner. A few local businesses offer OHV, jeep, and snowmobile rentals. Besides the snowmobiling, if you are here in the winter remember we have the Lake City Ski Hill (www.lakecityskihill.com) and the Ice Climbing Park just up Henson Creek.
